Bergamo is a city in the Lombardy region situated 1 h away from Milan and has its own international airport. It’s famous for its medieval atmosphere and culturally rich Italian experience.
Why do you have to visit this city? I give you 3 reasons why you have to do it!
REASON 1: CULTURE
In 2023 Bergamo and its neighboring city Brescia will be the Italian Capital of Culture, or “the illuminated city”. Isn’t it enough? To be proclaimed the capital of culture means that there are a lot of things to show to their visitors: streets, museums, cathedrals, events, and gastronomic places.
REASON 2: HISTORY
Bergamo is famous for the scenic views from its Venetian Walls that are included in the list of UNSECO heritage and architectural marvels in its picturesque medieval city, Città Alta. You can simultaneously have the awe-inspiring scenery and time-transporting experience from Campanone—Bergamo’s civic tower.
REASON 3: FOOD
A famous stracciatella gelato (flavor: for fi latte with chunks of shaved dark chocolate folded through it) was invented in Bergamo in 1961. So, you have to come to try it there at Pasticceria La Marianna. And don’t miss casoncelli –meat-filled ravioli-like pasta typical of Bergamo.
