Lovers of Italy,
Spring is a perfect time to enjoy blooming nature and take some fresh air during the weekends. Here I am sharing with you a one-day escape idea of how to spend the perfect time out of the city and taste amazing zero KM food. Save it for your next adventure!
Everyone knows Lake Como, and Lake Garda, but Italy is full of small lakes where you’ll not find crowds of tourists and will be able to spend a day calmly one on one with nature. Just 50 km away by car from Milan there is the Lake of Pusiano on the shores of which you have to visit the farm – Agriturismo Sant’Anna from 1939.
You can reach this place easily:
- by car taking highway SS36
- by public transport taking the regional train from Milano Centrale train station in the direction of Lecco (40 mins) [buy tickets online on the official website trenitalia] and there in Piazza Lega Lombarda taking bus №С40 in the direction of Pusiano Scuole (30 mins), walk 1,4 km and you reach Azienda Agricola Sant’Anna.
What to expect in the farm Sant’Anna? First of all, nature! Peace, harmony, beautiful views, and good food. What else do you need for a perfect weekend escape from the city?
The Agriturismo is open since 1939 and is owned by the Paleari Henssler family. For four generations they have been following their passion for agricultural work and with animals, as well as their great love for nature.
Since then they have been working in the barn, in the kitchen, and outdoors in the fields, but they have also always cultivated the taste of hospitality: this is why each of their guests feels special… and has the warm feeling of ‘coming home’.
This welcome words you’ll find this on the official website of Sant’Anna and I would confirm that it’s totally true. You come there and you have a warm sensation to be somewhere in your own country house.
Have a walk, communicate with animals, enjoy the fresh air, then have a delicious lunch with zero km products [it means that they are produced right there at the place]. Have a look at their menu LINK.
My personal advice: take to try tagliatelle al farro fatte in casa service con ragu di manzetta al profumo di rosmarino [eng. homemade spelled taglitelle (form of pasta) served with beef ragu flavored with rosemary].
Don’t forget to buy some dairy home for your breakfast.
Ah, and try an ice cream of their own production! Moreover, you may purchase freshly pumped milk.
INSIDER TIP: make a reservation for a table in advance, they are getting booked quite fastly.

As another idea for the activity: try to ride a horse. Next to the pastures and the stable is the equestrian center, where you can get closer to the magical world of horseback riding. Ludovica, a qualified federal instructor, will accompany you with individual or group lessons in which anyone can ride a horse, both beginners, and agonists. In summer we organize pony weeks for children who will spend unforgettable days between games, races, horses, and good air …
Are you still thinking? Consider this idea as a one-day escape for your next weekend and live this authentic experience!
