It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and it’s one of my favorite periods of the year in Italy!

As the crisp winter air wraps Milan in a magical embrace, the city comes alive with the spirit of the season, offering a plethora of enchanting events to make your December truly memorable. This Christmas, immerse yourself in the warmth of holiday cheer without breaking the bank, as I unveil a curated list of free events that promise to add a touch of wonder to your Milanese experience.

 December 1 – January 6 – the Christmas market near Duomo, the largest Christmas fair in the city with 60 chalets.

December 1-7 – broadcasts, concerts, performances, exhibitions, and meetings dedicated to the opening of La Scala theater season and related to Verdi’s opera “Don Carlo.”

December 2 – the first stop of the Coca-Cola Truck 100% electric takes place, transforming the location into a welcoming Coca-Cola Christmas Area. The Coca-Cola Christmas Tour returns to Milan, delivering a message aimed at raising awareness about the importance of cultivating values such as kindness, generosity, and sharing.

December 2-10 L’Artigiano in Fiera, a gastronomic and craft exhibition with representatives from 80 countries.

December 3 – Domenica al Museo, free entry to all state museums not only in Milan but throughout Italy.

December 5 – January 14 – Christmas exhibition with Perugino’s work “Il Battesimo di Cristo” (The Baptism of Christ). Sala Alessi adorns itself with a Christmas atmosphere, thanks to an eco-friendly and entirely recyclable scenographic installation: immerse yourself in the sacredness of water, a symbol of life, rebirth, and purification, through a unique visual experience.

December 6 – Lighting of the main Christmas tree of Milan

✨ December 7 – Feast of Milan’s patron saint, Saint Ambrose, and the traditional Milanese market in the park near Sforza Castle called “Oh Bej! Oh Bej!”

December 16 – Santa Claus (Babbo Natale) costume marathon
Start at 03:00 pm from  Piazza Sempione – Arco della Pace.
